Jessica is a Canadian filmmaker and actor whose work explores the intersections of gender, identity, and intimacy within broader cultural narratives. She is drawn to stories that subvert genre and form, offering unconventional perspectives on the female experience.

Her short films include Between Realities Along the Edge of Time (Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, 2021) and Bing! Bang! Bi! (Inside Out, Frameline, 2020), as well as producing and starring in Taos (Santa Fe International Film Festival Jury Award). As an actor, Jessica has appeared in numerous television series and was Co-Founder and Artistic Director of the independent theatre company Heart in Hand. Her work has been supported by Telefilm Canada, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC), Inside Out’s RE:Focus Fund, and has been broadcast on CBC.

Her recent experimental celluloid shorts (Death by Landscape, Picture This and Manitoulin, with love) further reflect her interest in hybridity of form. Jessica’s co-written feature The Way Out was named to the 2022 Mubi/Wscripted Cannes Screenplay List. She holds an MFA in Screenwriting from York University where she continues to work as a researcher. She is currently preparing to direct her debut feature, Tides, produced by Nice Picture and Shut Up & Colour Pictures.
